The update does fix it. You will see many posts over the past few days
confirming the same.After applying the update, you must either factory
reset or clear data on the Android TV Infrared Service.

Actually the STTE.230319.008.H1.10319030. update does fix it but needs
another factory reset after the upgrade. After reset, the device can be
set up through the app instead of manually with the remote and it
detects the tv properly. Buttons now work...
